The Monroe Botanical Garden will take root at 1311 13th Avenue, reimagining the former site of Ken’s Agriservice and the Monroe Art Market into a new space for nature and community.

A small outdoor scene with a grassy area, a wooden building, a utility pole, and a yellow building with satellite dishes under a partly cloudy blue sky.
A single-story commercial building with large front windows, a dark-colored metal roof, and a brick facade in a small town or suburban area.

Local Voices Heard in a Community Listening Session

“Native prairie plants & wildflowers; could feature artist works and sculpture.”

“A season-extending structure like a greenhouse means the garden can be a place people will enjoy for a longer part of the year!”

Close-up of hands planting small green seedlings into soil in a garden bed.

“Make it interesting & kid friendly.”

“Connect children and young families as well as senior citizens!”

“I love plants & gardening so it offers ‘place’ & community!”

“It would be something new that the community does not already have and could offer many event, activity opportunities.”

Building a legacy, literally from the ground up.
